Searching For Something
“Comparison is the thief of joy” is a quote by President Theodore Roosevelt and I have to admit that I am feeling that statement to the depths of my soul in this season of my life. How about you? Let’s talk about it~
If ever you had a time when you longed for something but you just couldn’t figure out what that something was…my advise is…get quiet. That can mean whatever it means to you. Nobody can tell you the perfect formula for your life-it’s yours!
That fact was always terrifying to me. I am 100% accountable for my life. Things WILL come along and run me over but I am responsible for EVERY. SINGLE. THING. Then I began to realize what a huge weight off my shoulders this idea is. I am the master of my life. The leading lady. The one who holds all of the magic.
Guess what? YOU are 100% in charge of 100% of your life. Isn’t that amazing!
There is so much noise in this world at this time. You can spend your entire day online and plugged in to the chaos. If you are feeling overly anxious/worried/sad/(enter your word) I will put this challenge to you:
WHEN was the last time you sat with yourself in silence. WHEN was the last time that you were 1st in your life?
For me, those questions were incredibly difficult to answer. Not because I didn’t know the answer but instead because I knew I was being influenced all day- every day. The toll that the outside world took on my mental health was too much to continue to bear. But I sat in the silence and came out with my own thoughts and ideas. I would encourage you to do the same!
One of my favorite quotes at this moment in time is, “Comparison is the thief of joy” (President Theodore Roosevelt). Starting to rebuild this business has not been without struggle in this area. I will no longer look at the external world and try to incorporate those pieces into my internal dialog. No. The only thing to compare my life to is to my former self. The same holds true for you.
Stop searching for something that doesn’t exist out there, because it is lying somewhere inside of you. Find it there. Turn off the noise. Fall in love with your own life. That is where the authentic you will shine. You are one of a kind! I am sending hope and strength and love to your life and know that you have a cheerleader in me!
Go be YOU! The world is waiting~
Is It “Soap” You Are Looking For?
The battle between handmade soap and detergent bars. Wheredo you stand? As a sop maker, you may e surprised where I stand! Let’s talk about it!
I often get the question, “Why is handmade soap so expensive? I could go to the dollar store and buy a bar for a dollar.”
I typically acknowledge that to be true, but the comparison truly is apples to oranges-or-soap to detergent bars.
I am so very thankful for the mass produced detergent bars that are on all the shelves in all the stores and can be bought at a relatively inexpensive price. Detergent bars are mass produced by large companies. There are additives in detergent bars to help them appear to be no different than a handmade bar of soap. The big companies have made keeping disease away and helping the mass population stay clean. I am glad they are making that impact.
BUT…
The FDA states that “Most body cleansers, both liquid and solid, are actually synthetic detergent products. Detergent cleansers are popular because they make suds easily in water and don’t form gummy deposits. Some of these detergent products are actually marketed as ‘soap’ but are not true soap according to the legal definition.”
You won’t walk into your local Walmart and be able to meet the producer of the goods you are buying. The ingredients in a handmade bar of soap are the actual raw materials that will not only clean you when needed, but will introduce no chemicals to your skin, and leave you nourished and loved long after you are done using it.
If you have never tried handmade soap, please do. Whether from Seabreeze Soaps of Maine, or from any handmade soap maker in your area. You can find us at Farmer’s Markets, Craft Fairs, Bazaares, and there is no limit to those artists you will find online.
We are a passionate bunch and pour our heart and soul into each bar we make. We measure, mix, add, mix, pour, swirl, insulate, unmold, cut, bevel, and set on a shelf for six weeks to cure.
Handmade soap is the soap you are looking for!
